Let’s talk about styled shoots. You might be asking: what is a styled shoot? But I promise, you’ve definitely seen them. A stunning couple in designer outfits. A jaw-dropping bouquet. A reception table that looks like it belongs in a magazine. And maybe you’ve thought: “That’s can’t be a real wedding.” You’re absolutely right. It’s not. […]

When you’re scrolling through a wedding gallery, you’re probably not thinking, “Ah yes, that’s a beautifully posed image” or “Wow, what an authentic candid!” But as a photographer, I’m thinking about that all the time—because candid, posed, and prompted photography each play a different role in telling your story.
If you’re planning your wedding and wondering what kind of photos to expect (or what you actually want), let’s break it down:
These are your classic, timeless shots. Everyone’s looking at the camera, standing in the right spot, smiling at the right time. This includes wedding party portraits, family formals, and that iconic couple shot with your veil perfectly placed.
Yes, they might feel a little more structured—but here’s the thing:
These are the photos your grandma wants for her mantle.
And honestly? You’ll be glad you have them, too.
They’re the ones you frame, the ones you send to your parents, and the ones that get passed down over the years. Posed photos aren’t the most “fun” part of the day, but they matter. I make it as painless (and quick!) as possible so you can get back to the celebration.
Candid photos are the ones that just happen. A tear sliding down your cheek during vows. The best man cracking a joke that actually lands. Your flower girl dancing in the middle of the aisle because she forgot her job and just felt the music.
These moments are unposed, unplanned, and 100% real. I don’t step in or direct anything—I just watch for the moments that matter and quietly document them while you live them.
These are the images that bring it all rushing back in the best way. They’re emotional, often a little imperfect, and they tell the story you didn’t even know you were writing.
Prompted photos live in that sweet spot between posed and candid. I’ll give you a bit of direction—not to control the moment, but to guide it. Instead of “stand here and smile,” I might say:
What I won’t say: “Look deeply into each other’s eyes and imagine your 10-year anniversary.”
That’s just not the vibe.
Prompted photos are natural with a little help. They feel like you, but they also benefit from good light, great backgrounds, and a photographer who knows how to read the moment without over-directing.
A full wedding gallery should include all three: candid, posed, and prompted photography.
The posed. The real. The guided.
Together, they tell the full story. You get the mantle photo, the messy-happy moment, and the ones that make you laugh because they feel just like you two.
If that sounds like what you’re looking for, I’d love to hear about your day.

When you’re planning a wedding, there are a few big decisions that can feel overwhelming—venue, dress, guest list—and somewhere in that mix is the photographer who will document it all. One of the most common questions I hear from couples is: “How much should we spend on a wedding photographer?” With the cost of wedding photography in Greenville, SC ranging anywhere from $1,000 to over $7,000, understanding what you’re paying for—and the value behind those numbers—can make a big difference in your planning.
If you’ve started your search in Greenville, SC, you’ve likely noticed that prices are all over the place. From photographers offering full-day coverage for $1,000 to others charging five times that amount, the range can be confusing. So, let’s break it down. What exactly are you paying for—and why does it matter?
Photographers in this price range are often just starting out or offer limited coverage and services. You might find someone talented who’s building their portfolio, but it usually comes with trade-offs—like minimal editing, fewer backups for gear and files, and little to no guidance during the planning process.
Budget photographers may not include engagement sessions, printed products, or an in-depth timeline consultation. If you’re on a strict budget and photography isn’t a top priority, this route can work. However, it’s important to weigh the cost of a wedding photographer in this range against the potential risks and limitations.
This is where many experienced photographers in Greenville fall. You’ll get reliable quality, consistent editing, and likely an engagement session or second shooter included. These photographers have been around for a few years, have invested in professional gear, and can guide you through your timeline to make sure you’re capturing key moments without stress.
At this level, you’re paying for not just beautiful photos, but also for someone who knows how to manage a wedding day, anticipate emotional moments, and create a seamless experience from booking to gallery delivery.
Luxury photographers offer a boutique, full-service experience. Their work may be nationally published, and they often limit the number of weddings they take each year so they can give each couple personalized attention. You’ll see custom-designed albums, curated galleries, heirloom products, and intentional storytelling that feels like a fine art collection of your wedding day.
You’re also paying for expert-level problem-solving, high-end gear and editing tools, and a professional who can make any location look like a dream—even if it rains, the timeline shifts, or the light disappears.
In Greenville, most couples spend between $3,000 and $5,000 on their wedding photographer. That range typically includes 6–8 hours of coverage, an engagement session, and digital images. If you’re planning a full-day celebration or looking for a photographer who offers albums, second shooters, or travel for your mountain or coastal wedding, you’ll likely be in the upper end—or slightly beyond—this average.
I’m not the cheapest photographer in Greenville. But I offer so much more than “showing up and taking photos.” From our first call to final gallery delivery, I’m deeply invested in your story. I walk you through planning, create a detailed custom timeline, help you prepare for your engagement session, and make sure your day feels peaceful and fun—not posed and stiff.
I know how to work quickly when time runs short, how to find great light even in dark venues, and how to make people feel comfortable in front of the camera. I’ve photographed over 130 weddings in Greenville and beyond, and I bring that experience to every couple I work with.
Over the years, I’ve invested countless hours and resources into continuing education—mentorships, workshops, business coaching, and mastering the craft of storytelling through photography. That education doesn’t just live in my head—it shows up in how I handle unexpected weather, tricky timelines, high-pressure moments, and emotional family dynamics. It means you can trust me to lead with confidence and care so you can stay fully present on your wedding day.
My experience and education aren’t just credentials—they’re the foundation of a wedding experience that feels smooth, thoughtful, and full of heart.
I also believe your images deserve more than to live on a hard drive. That’s why I offer keepsake albums, curated image selections, and guidance on how to print and preserve your photos for generations.
It’s not just about the number of hours you’re booking. The cost of a wedding photographer is shaped by a combination of factors, including:
When you consider everything that goes into wedding photography—equipment, editing time, business overhead, insurance, and continued education—the price starts to reflect the full value of the service, not just the hours on the wedding day.
Your wedding photographs will be one of the few things that remain long after the flowers fade and the cake is eaten. Whether you choose a budget photographer, a mid-range pro, or someone in the luxury space, the cost of a wedding photographer should reflect the value they bring to your day. Make sure you choose someone whose work moves you—and who makes you feel seen, supported, and celebrated.
If that sounds like something you’re looking for, I’d love to chat.
Let’s make something beautiful together.

As a Greenville Engagement Photographer, I’ve learned to expect the unexpected—especially when it comes to South Carolina weather. For Kate & Harry’s engagement session at Falls Park in downtown Greenville, we had to pivot last minute due to an approaching storm. But what started as a typical overcast session quickly turned into something magical.
We began under a cloudy sky, warming up with some casual walking photos through the park’s winding trails. The flowers were all bloomed, the lighting was dreamy, and Kate & Harry were naturals. We captured candids as they laughed, chatted, and took in the beauty of Falls Park together. Then, just as we reached one of my favorite scenic spots overlooking the falls, the sky opened up.
At first, we dashed for cover under one of the bridges—thankful for the architecture that makes Falls Park so unique. I looked at them and said, “We can wait it out… or we can embrace it.” Without hesitation, Kate & Harry chose to embrace it. And I’m so glad they did.
Cue: full-on Notebook moment. These two ran, danced, kissed, and held each other close in the pouring rain. Their clothes were soaked, their hair dripping—but their joy? That was the real star of the show. The romance, the spontaneity, the willingness to lean into the moment—it was everything an engagement session should be.
Harry looked at the back of my camera and smiled, saying, “These feel like us.” And that’s exactly what you want from an engagement session: photos that don’t just look good but feel honest. Real. Like you.
Being a Greenville Photographer means capturing more than just pretty pictures—it’s about preserving the energy of your story in a place as special as Falls Park. Whether the sun is shining or the skies are opening up, there’s something about this park that makes every session feel iconic.
Kate & Harry’s rainy-day session was one for the books. It reminded me that sometimes, the most unexpected moments turn into the most meaningful ones.

This proposal was extra special to photograph—not just because of the stunning backdrop at Falls Park in Downtown Greenville, but because I’ve known Colby and Wiley Beth for most of their lives!
My sister and Wiley have been best friends since they were three years old, and Colby grew up just around the corner. He and my sister were neighborhood buddies, riding the school bus home together for years. So when Colby’s mom reached out to help plan the big moment, I was all in!
We wanted to make sure everything stayed a surprise for Wiley Beth, so I snuck downtown a few days before to scout out the perfect spot and even filmed some videos to send Colby’s way. To keep things extra stealthy, I worked with his mom so Wiley wouldn’t stumble across any suspicious texts or photos on his phone.
The big day rolled around with the dreamiest spring weather—73 degrees and sunny! Naturally, Falls Park was packed with people soaking up the warmth. We weren’t sure how this would affect the moment, but honestly, it made it even sweeter. As soon as Colby dropped to one knee, cheers erupted from all around the park. Total strangers celebrated with them—it felt like something out of a movie!
What Wiley didn’t know was that her and Colby’s families had been hiding nearby the whole time. The moment she said yes, they all popped out from behind trees and bushes to join the celebration. There were hugs, happy tears, and so much joy.
Being part of this proposal was such a full-circle moment for me. Getting to witness two people I’ve known since childhood start this new chapter together was truly an honor. Colby and Wiley Beth, thank you for letting me capture the start of your forever. Your love, your people, and that spring sunshine made this day one I’ll never forget.
Here’s to more downtown adventures, more surprise celebrations, and a lifetime of cheering each other on—just like the crowd did that day. 🥂
P.S. If you’re planning a Falls Park proposal, I highly recommend bringing your photographer in early—we love being part of the planning process!
